Learn creatively in a working theatre

The Pegasus partnership with boomsatsuma and The River Learning Trust offers young people who want a career in the industry hands-on training in the heart of a working theatre.

Current productions

We are delighted to announce that our boomsatsuma Acting Diploma students are currently working on two productions this May. These shows are for invited audiences only due to COVID-19 concerns.

Animal Farm

Animal Farm

20-21 May

“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” Adapted from the novel by George Orwell.

Who can we trust to lead us? Who should have their hands on the levers of power? George Orwell’s masterpiece of political satire is brought vividly to life with warmth and humour; aided by the use of 25 beautifully made masks.

Anna Karenina

Anna Karenina

27-28 May

A beautiful young woman has everything in her life – except passion. If she takes a lover, the scandal will be overwhelming. If she falls in love, she will risk everything.

Brilliantly adapted for the stage by Helen Edmondson, Anna Karenina is a fast moving whirlwind of desire set in 19th Century Russia.

About the Diploma

The Professional Acting Diploma is an RSL Level 3 Extended Diploma worth up to 168 UCAS points (equivalent to 3 A* A Levels). On successful completion of the course you will be awarded an overall Distinction*, Distinction, Merit or Pass grade.

The programme is fully funded for students who are aged 16-18 at the start of the course. Students will be eligible to apply for a discretionary bursary. Students will be expected to contribute to the cost of trips.

With a 133 seat auditorium, dance studio with sprung floor, a workshop for designing and building sets, props and costumes, music tech studio, dressing rooms, green room and public café, Pegasus Theatre is one of the best places in the city to study professional acting.

We have put a number of measures into place to ensure the safety of our Acting Diploma students during COVID-19. You can download our full risk assessment below.

Students at Pegasus receive fantastic results, with all of our 2nd year 2020 class achieving merit or distinction grades, and 25% of the year achieving distinction*. Six members of this cohort are now going to top drama schools.

“The course has been transformative for me as an actor and as an individual. The course provided me the opportunity to develop my acting every day, and to work with industry professionals, which is an experience I never expected to have. And now I’m off to drama school. Thank you boomsatsuma!”
