Technical and Building Manager: (Full time permanent position, salary starting from 32k per annum) 

Job Purpose

The Technical and Building Manager is a new post within Pegasus. They are responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of all technical services for artists, participants and audiences. They are responsible for the management and general upkeep of the building and all its spaces and will act as Health and Safety lead for the organisation.

 Employment Terms 

Contract: Permanent

Remuneration: £32,000 to £35,000 per annum dependant on experience

Hours: Full time (37 hours per week). Weekend and evening working will be required to support the live and creative learning programmes delivery along with any other events/hires that take place within the building. The post holder will be expected to provide most of the technical support for received and in house performances

  • To ensure that our building and facilities are provision of facilities are safe, welcoming and fit for purpose for all our users
  • To lead on effective statutory and regulatory compliance within the organisation.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Technical and Operations

  • Management, supervision, delivery and financial control of all technical and production matters for Pegasus’s programme of performances and events
  • Operational responsibility for the management of the day to day running and long-term upkeep of the building
  • Support the Creative Learning Director/Joint CEO and external facilitators with the production planning and delivery and management of all Young Company Productions and creative learning activities including quarterly work experience sessions
  • Support visiting technicians in the safe and appropriate use of all facilities and equipment and supervise their use
  • Ensure that Pegasus’s building and work environments always comply with Health and Safety Policies, Premises Licence Requirements and best practice including works carried out by contractors or third parties
  • Co-ordinate all technical and building maintenance
  • Ensure the effective flow of information on all technical and building matters across the organisation regarding production information and chair monthly operations meetings

 

Leadership and personnel management

  • Lead on the recruitment, contracting, training and management of casual technical staff
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of Pegasus by attending and contributing to monthly team meetings

 

Finance

  • With oversight from the Artistic Director/Joint CEO be responsible for the technical and general maintenance budgets and its allocation reporting regularly to the Joint CEO’s
  • To support the organisations efforts to maximise efficiencies and income generation

 

Health and Safety, Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Act as Health and Safety Officer for Pegasus ensuring that the organisation is always compliant with H and S regulations.
  • Chair the quarterly Health and Safety committee meetings and work closely with the Joint CEOs to ensure that Pegasus’s Health and Safety Policy and Safety Arrangements are regularly reviewed and updated
  • Lead on all aspects of maintenance which will include ensuring that all equipment within the building is regularly serviced and compliant with relevant legislation
  • Undertake routine building maintenance: and ensure stocks of all necessary maintenance supplies and equipment are adequate
  • Monitor building control systems including CCTV to ensure services are performing appropriately
  • Act as ICT support lead within the organisation and be the main point of contact for external service providers
  • To be first on the general out of hours call out list and act as first response to any building emergencies such as security or fire alarm activation, leaks or power outages

 

Environment and Sustainability

  • As a key member of the Environmental working party, support and ensure compliance with the Pegasus environmental policy looking at means to ensure best practice and proactively researching ways to reduce the building’s environmental footprint. Attend quarterly Environmental meetings
  • Work closely with the Joint CEOs to ensure that Pegasus is compliant and committed to delivering all in house productions in line with the Theatre’s Green Book

General:

  • Undertake any other duties and training as may reasonably be required
